About Nonogram
Play Nonogram (Picross) puzzles online free at PlayDeck -- no download, no signup required. Nonograms are logic puzzles where you use number clues to fill in a grid and reveal a hidden picture. Also known as Picross, Griddlers, or Paint by Numbers, these puzzles combine logical deduction with the satisfaction of uncovering pixel art.
Each row and column of the grid has a set of numbers that tell you how many consecutive filled cells appear in that line, and in what order. For example, the clue "3 1 2" means the row contains a group of 3 filled cells, then at least one empty cell, then 1 filled cell, then at least one empty cell, then 2 filled cells. Using these clues for every row and column, you deduce which cells to fill and which to leave empty.
PlayDeck Nonogram offers puzzles in multiple sizes: 5x5 for quick, easy puzzles; 10x10 for a moderate challenge; and 15x15 for experienced solvers. Each puzzle reveals a unique pixel art image when solved, adding a delightful visual reward to the logical challenge.
Key solving strategies include starting with rows or columns that have the largest clues (they have the fewest possible arrangements), using overlapping logic to find cells that must be filled regardless of arrangement, and marking cells you know must be empty with an X. Cross-referencing row and column clues is essential -- when you fill cells in a row, check if that gives you new information for the intersecting columns.
Nonograms are pure logic puzzles -- no guessing is required. Every puzzle can be solved through deduction alone, which makes the solving process deeply satisfying. They are excellent for developing logical reasoning, spatial thinking, and patience.
